US vetoes UN Gaza ceasefire resolution despite recent Israeli attacks on civilians

The United States vetoed a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, blocking the measure as the only dissenting vote among the 15-member body.

The draft, introduced amid rising global concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, was supported by the other 14 council members. It follows multiple days this week of the Israeli military reportedly firing on Palestinian civilians near aid distribution centers.

Trump fires pro-Israel officials from White House

United States President Donald Trump has fired many pro-Israel officials and traditional Republican hawks from the White House National Security Council (NSC) over the last month, the Middle East Eye reported on Wednesday. Many of these officials angered the “America first” side of the Trump administration.

One notable firing was Eric Trager, Middle East advisor at the NSC and was with Trump during the entire Middle East trip last month.

Utah mosque vandalized by Israeli supporter

The Masjid Al Noor Mosque in Salt Lake City, Utah was vandalized on Sunday, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said in a statement.

CCTV footage obtained by the largest Muslim advocacy group in the United States shows a white male taping the US and Israeli flags on the front door of the mosque.
