UN-backed group declares famine in Gaza


The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), a United Nations-backed organization, formally declared on Friday that famine is taking place in Gaza. Citing catastrophic food insecurity and mass starvation, the IPC warned that conditions in northern Gaza, particularly in Gaza City, have deteriorated beyond emergency levels. Widespread hunger, acute malnutrition in children, and alarming numbers of starvation-related deaths led to the declaration, marking the first officially recognized famine of the crisis. Humanitarian agencies continue to call for immediate and unfettered aid access to avert further deaths.

Over 60 Palestinians killed across Gaza as attacks escalate

Airstrikes targeted densely populated residential areas, resulting in the deaths of entire families and drawing renewed international outcry over civilian casualties. Hospitals and rescue crews continue to face overwhelming challenges as bombardments and access barriers persist.
