Canada to recognize Palestinian statehood at U.N. General Assembly, PM Carney says

On Wednesday, Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney announced plans for Canada to officially recognize the State of Palestine during the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly this September. Canada’s move follows similar announcements by France and the U.K. and is linked to expectations of Palestinian Authority elections in 2026 and the exclusion of Hamas from governance.
Why it matters: This historic decision marks a pivotal shift among Western powers, adds to mounting international pressure on Israel, and signals deepening global support for Palestinian self-determination.
Portugal may recognize Palestinian statehood as early as September, PM office says

On Thursday, Portugal’s government announced its plan to recognize the State of Palestine at the same United Nations General Assembly this September and will consult its president and parliament before a final commitment. This aligns Portugal with a growing number of countries supporting Palestinian statehood amid escalating humanitarian concerns in Gaza.
Why it matters: Portugal’s expected recognition adds momentum to a wave of European and global endorsements for Palestinian statehood, reflecting mounting frustration with the ongoing crisis and push for a two-state solution.
At least 154 Palestinians have starved to death in Gaza, most of them children

The Gaza Health Ministry reported this week that at least 154 Palestinians—88 of them children—have died of starvation since the escalation of the conflict in October 2023, with more than half the deaths recorded in July alone. Humanitarian agencies warn the real toll is likely higher, as ongoing blockades and fighting restrict aid and medical access.
Why it matters: The spike in hunger-related deaths highlights the immense suffering of Gaza’s most vulnerable, underscoring the urgent need for sustained humanitarian aid and immediate action to prevent further catastrophe.

📖 Quran –
وَاصْبِرْ وَمَا صَبْرُكَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ
“And be patient, for your patience is only with the help of Allah.”
🕊️ Hadith –
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim—even a thorn which pricks him—but Allah will expiate some of his sins because of that.”
