NYPD mourns Muslim officer killed in Manhattan, hailed as a hero

New York City Police Officer Didarul Islam was among four people killed in a Midtown Manhattan office building shooting Monday that left the gunman and three others dead, officials said.

Islam, 36, was a Muslim immigrant from Bangladesh who had worked with the New York Police Department for more than three years, according to Mayor Eric Adams.

UK to recognize Palestine in September if Gaza war continues, Starmer says

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Tuesday the U.K. will recognize the State of Palestine in September if Israel continues its war in the Gaza Strip.

“I can confirm the U.K. will recognize the State of Palestine by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in September, unless the Israeli government takes substantive steps to end the appalling situation in Gaza, agree to a cease-fire and commit to a long-term sustainable peace reviving the prospect of a two-state solution,” Starmer said in a televised address from 10 Downing Street.

Trump admits Gaza starvation, contradicting Netanyahu

U.S. President Donald Trump acknowledged widespread hunger in the Gaza Strip on Monday, directly contradicting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s claim that there is no starvation in the territory.

“Based on television, I would say not particularly, because those children look very hungry,” Trump said when asked if he agreed with Netanyahu’s dismissal of starvation in the Palestinian enclave.

đź“– Quran Verse & Hadith of the Day: The blessings of giving Sadaqa (charity)

📖 Quran – Surah Fatir, verses 29, 30

“Surely those who recite the Book of Allah, establish prayer, and donate from what We have provided for them—secretly and openly—[can] hope for an exchange that will never fail, so that He will reward them in full and increase them out of His grace. He is truly All-Forgiving, Most Appreciative,.”

🕊️ Hadith – Riyad al-Saliheen, Introduction, Hadith 658

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that Allah’s Messenger (ď·ş) said: "Seven are (the persons) whom Allah will give protection with His Shade on the Day when there will be no shade except His Shade (i.e., on the Day of Resurrection), and they are: A just ruler; a youth who grew up with the worship of Allah; a person whose heart is attached to the mosque; two persons who love and meet each other and depart from each other for the sake of Allah; a man whom a beautiful and high ranking woman seduces (for illicit relation), but he (rejects this offer by saying): 'I fear Allah'; a person who gives a charity and conceals it (to such an extent) that the left hand might not know what the right has given; and a person who remembers Allah in solitude and his eyes well up,”
