Egypt’s Grand Mufti condemns European clerics’ visit to Israel

Egypt’s Grand Mufti Dr. Nazir Ayyad issued a blistering statement Thursday condemning a group of European Muslim clerics who visited Israel this week and met with President Isaac Herzog in Jerusalem.

“I observed – with profound regret – that shameful visit conducted by a group who promoted themselves as religious figures; individuals who sold their consciences cheaply, falsely cloaking themselves in religious garb, only to stand submissively before the leaders of the Zionist entity in a disgraceful scene,” Ayyad said.

Egypt, Qatar and the United States push for Gaza ceasefire

The wave of denunciations comes as Egypt, Qatar and the United States continue urgent negotiations in Doha to secure a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

According to the Trump administration, the proposed agreement would pause hostilities in Gaza for 60 days, allowing time for further talks over the release of roughly 50 Israeli hostages still held in the enclave and hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli custody.

Iranian president was injured in an Israeli strike, state media says

Iranian state-run Fars News Agency reported Sunday that President Masoud Pezeshkian was injured in an Israeli strike during a high-level security meeting in Tehran last month, when the two adversaries were at war.

The report claims he sustained light injuries in his legs, but is recovering.
